Yet the draw of both of these series comes from the series following new characters on adventures separate from the previous series of characters, although for the Pokemon series Ash is a known constant. The character styles also improved as the series progressed and it might be possible to pick up either series without perhaps knowing what happened in the predecessor series.

Both classic kids anime. In these series young children must face the forces of darkness, co-operate with their friends and win battles. In both the children themselves don't enter the conflicts but they instead control their separate companions (the respective series' namesakes). Both also did an excellent job of marketing children toys from the series.

Both second seasons of classic kids anime franchises. Both introduce new characters to an already established cast from the previous iteration.

Both secondary iterations of classic kids "monster battling" anime. Both have righteous heroes against the forces of darkness. The human spirit powers their monster partners in battle. Both have similar senses of humour.

Both second season continuations of classic "monster taming" kids anime. Both have intelligent monsters that speak the human language and converse with the kids. In both the young human kids are the irreplaceable heroes that need to save their respective worlds.

Both later series of well known and beloved kids anime franchises. Both feature secondary digital/virtual worlds that the main characters travel back & forth from. Both have lovable characters with great character designs.

Digimon Adventure 02 and Dennou Boukenki Webdiver are similar in terms of story: -Both are about a group of children who fight amongst a partner. -In a digital world, but it also affects the 'real' world. -No spoilers, but some characters have similar storylines/traits in both series. The difference is that in Webdiver the partners are robots, in Digimon they're monsters. If you liked the story of Digimon, you'll probably like Webdiver's story as well.

Well, I wouldn't say it is totally similar since digimon has it real partners but blue dragon is about shadow but since they each respectively have their own emotions, it is kinda similar. Not to mention, the shadows in blue dragon fused together like how in digimon adventure 02 that they can fused together...

Both started with 3 Main Characters Both share the same power source (such as "Courage, Friendship, Love, and Hope") Daisuke and Souji share the same tipical characteristic, such as careless, short-minded, wants-to-be-popular, also each of them has somekind of fetish that are really not ordinary in some Souji(Tailred)'s battle sequence in Ore Twintails ni Narimasu, it reminds me of Wargreymon vs BlackWargreymon battle

Rather carefree battles... to a point, fighting for world safety and dealing with school. Some how they seem simular...

Both extremely similar kids monster battling anime from a similar time when such was the craze after the massive & explosive success of Pokemon. Both have young children as main characters but also just as important are the partner monster characters who are extremely intelligent and able to communicate in way where it appears to the viewer as though they are speaking the same language and so can have much more meaningful dialogue with their monster companions (unlike in Pokemon). Both have a variety of cool/cute monster designs and both shows see these monsters engage in battles on behalf of our heroes against a common enemy.

Both super popular kids anime with similar art styles and premises. Both have a wide array of monsters with varied design. Both have similar aged protagonists. Both target the same demographic.

Each has groups of dissimilar children who are brought together by fate/chance into an unfamilair world. Both are adventure tales that concentrate highly on drama. Both are children's shows which are good enough to appeal to a general audience.
