Both humanised cats. Both have the very detailed aesthetics.

Both feature cats which are characterized as humans. Both very cute.

Both are about an abandoned kitten who gets taken in by a family and cared for. The kitten 'talks' a lot throughout the show, although while the watcher hears 'human words' from her, the human characters in the show only hear meows.

Both show cats as small people with cat ears and tails, and each has supporting character who is a cat maniac/collector who trys to capture cats in a butterfly like net. All that aside tough Cottonland dose has somewhat of a darker undertone to it

Two early examples of anthropomorphic neko persons with human behavior. The older Tora-chan gives clothing and character traits to its cast, but stops short of the hybrid a real cat person is. Star of Cottonland goes all the way and invents the nekomimi. Still, Tora-chan is a must see for everybody interested in the history of cat girls.

all nekomimi fanatics should give the star of cottonland a shot. the film is an adaptation of one of the very first manga characters that we might now identify as a "catgirl". imo the more nichijou-kei/slice of life segments of the film would be enjoyable to nekopara fans bc they are just the cutest things ive ever seen! additionally, the star of cottonland is worthwhile viewing for anyone interested in the evolution of shoujo manga & anime. on the other hand, oldhead fans of the star of cottonland might enjoy this nekopara adaptation because it is certainly cute, and may be said to epitomize the state  read more

slice of life series about an animal that took form of a human child, and their human "parent" who takes care of them.

Both are anime about female cats that visualise themseves as tiny humans, but humans see them just as cats. Both of these cats are in love with their owner and both are extremely cute. Yakimochi Caprice has also a dog girl.

Both feature a kitten who wants to become human. Katy (Chao) wants to become a human girl so she can become a witch (Unico). Chibi-Neko wants to become a human girl so she can be with the boy who took her in after she was abandoned (The Star of Cottonland).

Both stories are told from the point of view of a female cat who used to live on the streets. You can see how they interpret the world around them in their own ways and their relationships with their owners.
