Both shows deal with a young, female new recruit joining a special police force that has just been militarized with some new technology. In one show it's tanks, in the other, it's a mech suit. However, both shows focus around the utilization of this new technology for fighting crime. Character design and animation styles are also pretty similar.

Dominion and Patlabor share several elements, such as the theme of police employing unusual, by real life's standards, gear in the fight against crime. Both heroines, Noa and Leona, are newly joined crew members and are sisters from another mother, who are equally infatuated in their trusty, mechanical, steeds. Not to mention their tomboyish chara design, the two police officers really could have been siblings. As to the rest of the cast, Patlabor has a more grounded Police department, while the one depicted in Dominion is much more bombastic. In case of the Newport City Tank Police division, the "bomb" part should be treated literally on  read more

Both are about solving cybercrime and have to do with taking people out who piss on the force dominion tank. One is more on a lighter, funnier note, but both have an evolving, dark background story to them.

I want you to imagine what it would be like if someone wrote a cop drama only knowing New York through action films and edgy direct to video movies of the 70's-80's. If you came to tank police looking for "so bad it's good" than look no further than madbull 34. For your first viewing experience I would highly recommend the english dub and maybe a few drinks with friends. Full disclosure this did not age well whatsoever, there's nudity, violence, stereotypes, it's a huge mess.

Both have over the top action, exaggerated characters and a hyperactive narrative. And you can say that Tanks are close to mecha in some ways.

Similar setting set around motorbikes and armored tanks. Despite that similarity, this one is a bit more serious.

Both are about unorthodox team of policemen keeping law and order in a futuristic setting and their attempts to keep collateral damage low while executing justice.

Both titles are based on a manga from Masamune Shirow and where release in the 1980's. As well as similar art, animation, and a similar vibe. Both anime take place in an apocalyptic future with a police force trying to keep the peace by stopping terrorism throughout the city. Both anime have a lot of action and comedy. If you like one, you will enjoy the other.

Both series are about a group of people who work as Police Officers in the near future. There is heavy use of futureistic weapons, to get the job done, but at the end of the day they are all very much human, and act like real life police officers do (most of the time). There are a bunch of characters who act up, and play off each other in each series. They also both deal with people who work with the police (to help them) and give a lot of screen time to the enemy, who is not really evil, they just have their own  read more

Loveably, overly 80's in style and execution. Both are great sci-fi/cyberpunk anime series that deals with technology and what the future might bring us. Both are set in a dark, post-blade runner type setting, yet both have humor. Both come from the mangas of Masamune Shirow. Both are inspired by 80's action flicks. Dominion is going down "Streets of Fire" central, while Black Magic M-66 is going down "Termiantor 1" lane. Dominion is the much stronger of the two, however.

Kameari Park Precinct is one of the funniest animes I've seen, but seems relatively unknown. Surprising, considering it's based off a lonnnnnnng running series that predates even Dirty Pair. Dominion has the same sort of feel: loud, idiotic cops demolishing city block by city block as they go about their business. The KPP movie came out a full decade later but is overflowing with oldschool OTT goodness.
