Both Orphen and Slayers take place in a fantasy relm, but the similarities don't end there. Magic, Dragons, journeys, crazy side-kicks, wacky-ness & comedy along with a serious side flow through Slayers as much as it does Orphen. In Slayers the main character is an infamous Sorceress known for her most dangerous spell- (Dragon Slave).

Fantasy with lots of sorcery and adventure are the things that define these anime's. Comedy is inevitable too. Battle evil with magical powers in these action packed anime's.

Both the main characters in "Orphen" and "Chivas 1-2-3" are generally over-powered and rather egotistical sorcerers. Both generally deal with concepts of powerful sorcerers acting in possibly corrupt ways. They're also contemporaneous products of the 90's and have similar production values.

Both take place in a world full of magic where the good battles against evil. Both have humor, action, and mystery. Compared to Magi, Orphen is a bit older, but both are still excellent.

A guy who can control supernatural beings and has companions. Orphen is on a journey, Natsume is mostly in the same city/forest. Orphen has more action while Natsume is calm and emotionally intense.

D&D fantasy setting with great fight scenes and magic. Comedy amount the main characters as well as each character having their own individual goals makes the interaction between the characters more endearing. Ultimately the focus on magic, demonic powers, and mystery along with a few story twists make it similar to Orphen. I also appreciate that are direct which feel more detailed like older school anime such as Orphen.

The spells that the main characters cast are very similar, in fact the main characters are almost the same, let me quote them: Ryder: "Motomeru wa raimei Itzuchi" Orphen: "Ware michi biku wa shi no o mukudori"

Both of these animes involve a group of individuals going on adventures. The characters are similiar and are capable of using swords and magic. They are both entertaining animes for just about anyone.

I'm incredibly surprised that no one has compared these 2 yet. Epic adventure with great comedy moments & fun characters. They share heavy fantasy worlds in a medieval setting.

Although completely different in tone and setting, they are both are about a group of people(or just two people in Spice and Wolf) going on an adventure with a supernatural being(Orphen being a Sorcerer and Holo being a Wolf God) to complete a certain goal(In Orphen; to return Azalie to human form, in Spice and Wolf; to bring Holo back to her homeland). Along the way, they face many obstacles, which strengthen the bond between them, as they depend more and more on each other. Both have good-short-down to root action sequences(although their is a little more action in Orphen). Both are based off a series  read more
