I thought about Yumemiru Taiyou as soon as I saw Principal. They have similar art style, characters, and overall mood. Even the names of the main characters: Shima/Shimana. Both stories revolve around a girl who moves/runs away from home and ends up meeting new people and becoming family with them. She makes friends, falls in love, falls out of love, falls in love again. Both stories progress and develop nicely, and give insights into lives and issues of many characters, so the focus isn't solely on the main female character and her love life. If you found the end of Dreamin' Sun unsatisfying, real Principal. It's essentially the same setup but with the Landlord removed. They both have similar love interests and art styles, and handle the characters' roles and plot prevalence similarly.
