While both stories feature vampires and the trials they have to deal with in living alongside humans a great deal of my recommendation comes from how their tones are similar. While there is bloody action to be had the relationships between the characters involved are just as important. You get to see parts of their daily lives and sweet calming moments contrasted with the violent ones and the mood shifts aren't jarring.
