Both delve in the pain of being outed in a very poignant fashion. The main characters of each title is able to move forward and take on the judgementality of his peers thanks to the allies he has giving him courage. Both also have at least one female character that isn't just a plot device, as is the case with BL, but a compelling character in her own right.
I feel the same thoughtfulness when dealing with homosexuality. Obviously the stories are quite different, but both manga have realistic and beautiful depictions of LGBT relationships.
When I read LGBTQ manga’s I personally don’t like when they sexualized the living shit of Yuri and yaoi.
Both of these manga deals with homosexuality in a very real way without sexualizing those said characters. They treat the characters like real people with just more and as a LGBTQ person myself, I strongly appreciate that. If someone was looking for real LGBTQ manga I would definitely recommend these two

So both stories share a focus on lgbt relationships as well as the struggles of being an lgbt person in Japan especially when they get outed as one and the relationship depiction is on a more realistic down to earth take as well too.
