KtN likely took some inspiration from YnM. Ikuta has goofy mannerisms that hide a painful past like Tsuzuki. Hisui is "special" and alternatively sweet and abrasive like Hisoka (but less extreme); both need the other's protection, but want to become more useful.
Matsushita claims YnM is not BL, yet loaded it with rather unsubtle subtext. KtN is similar in that it the characters seem straight, yet it often veers a little too far over that bromance line.
