This recomendation is strange, I know, but both JoJo's and pokemon share some similarities. Both are long running shounen manga, that can be separated in parts. Each part happens to be an adventure, in another place with another main character, but the universe is the same and previous main characters are always showing up again. Also, fights are somewhat "indirectly", with pokemon and Stands. Universe in both series are in constant expansion and they haven't finished yet.
For anyone, who only knows about Pokemon through the anime will find this recommendation quite bizarre, but I can assure you, Pokemon Adventures (PokeSpe for short) manga is nothing like the anime. JoJo (especially Stardust Crusaders) and PokeSpe are actually quite similar because both have strategical battles (brain over brawl), and almost no "Deus Ex Machina" or "power of friendship" BS, with proper explanation for backing up every decision the characters make. Stands and Pokemon are also very similar, as in the Pokemon trainers and Stand users have to be in perfect harmony with their Pokemon/Stands during a battle or some other predicament. PokeSpe, unlike
