For a moment, think of The Record of Lodoss War, in that it was created based on a traditional role playing game. Now think the same again for both Dungeon Meshi and Maoujou de Oyasumi. Except, instead of regular gamers, think of a game that's being played by chefs in the former and narcoleptics barely staying awake on the latter.

Both of them take place in settings that are confined massive stone structures with all kinds of creatures and monsters inhabiting them.
Both of them poke fun at the idea of being in a dungeon/castle and in general both series approach things in a comedic way.
Dungeon Meshi's comedy relies on eating the various monsters from the dungeon in delicious ways.
Maojou de Oyasumi's comedy relies on the main character using the monsters from the castle to get the best possible sleep in her room.
Both of them have interesting and well designed monsters and charming art.

These series both tackle the problems one would face in an alternate universe, Dungeon Meshi going for food, while Maouji de Oyasumi goes for comfort. The series both have similar "How to make ____" structure with a cute art style.
