Humans born into another wold, but as different creatures. It makes an interesting and fun twist to the "born into another world" genre.
The two stories have a similar theme behind it, as it deals with reincarnation. Though the unfortunate main characters came from a different background. The one in "Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken" spawns as a more interesting being! One which caught me by a surprise and might too tickle your fancy. As in Re:monster protagonist starts off with something more humanoid. Still keep in mind that the two inhabit a fantasy setting. MC gets killed and reincarnates in a fantasy world as a monster, he has an ability which allows him to absorb his enemy's flesh and obtain new skills. In both the MC starts out with goblins and slowly takes in other people/monsters as he gains more power.
These series are both set in an alternate universe where the protagonist is born as a low-level mob. They both have a mix of serious, yet comedic approach at exploring the world, as well as becoming stronger and leading a civilization.
