Although Kuroshitsuji has more of a supernatural and much darker setting, whereas Emma is a romance story, both works take place at the same era and share the same backdrop, Victorian London. Also both revolve around the lives of English aristocracy and they insert some ethnic Indian notes in parts of the story. In a way, the protagonists of both works are fighting with their own "demons" to overcome the obstacles in their way to achieve their goals.
