Same author, obviously. But aside from that, Blood Blockade Battlefront carries all of the frenetic action that you loved in Trigun Maximum, but pushes beyond the bounds you thought impregnable in terms of visual absurdity. Every page is Nightow having a field day with really fun and abstract settings, characters, and demon designs
It's also got the good ol' Trigun sense of humor going for it.
The Dark Horse releases are also far more legible than their translations of TriMax. You should get them!
Both are made by the same author Nightow. Both of them have uniquely zany characters and humor with a sci-fi setting. Both of the main characters Vash and Leo are kind-hearted although I'd probably compare Klaus as the Vash "equivalent" since he's the strong unwavering character like Vash. Although there isn't much of a solid plot yet in Kekkai Sensen, if you are a fan of Nightow his way of story telling alone should be enough to make one enjoy this series.
