Known for their hardcore nature in the boxing world, Hajime no Ippo and Rikudo crafts a story about fighting and triumph. Both series focuses on a main protagonist who becomes a boxer in the ring. However, they face many obstacles and starts off as an underdog against their adversaries. With time and hard work, they work their way up the ladder and become stronger each chapter. Hajime no Ippo is a very character driven story with its unique ability to tell stories inside the ring. Rikudo also focuses a lot on characterization including some of the grim nature of the main protagonist's background life.
Both protagonist start off having great potential and a natural instinct to fight. Both manga's are about boxing and the careers of the lead male characters. Not only do both manga's have amazing art but a great knowledge and mastery of the sport that can draw in readers who don't follow or understand the physical activity needed for boxing.

In both mangas you will see the bad and good side of boxing. If you love sport mangas then it will be a blast reading both, the difference between both is that hajime is more comedy and rikudou is bit more dark.
Both are boxing manga that follow a teenage protagonist and show his evolution from a novice to a professional boxer. Both manga have a similar art style, which has a lot of details and is quite realistic. Apart from the boxing matches, these manga also show the main character's lives and the difficulties they face.

They're both boxing series but I'm not really recommending Rikudou because of the boxing aspect.
Rikudou is a dark manga. The boxing aspect isn't as fleshed out as Hajime no Ippo but boxing isn't the only thing Rikudou has to offer. It's also a psychological manga with a lot of more mature themes. So if you like your seinen stuff and Hajime no Ippo. Give it a shot.
