Shared by both are an amazing cast of colorful characters, side characters more memorable than the majority of main characters, hilarious comedy, moving and often poignant drama, long term character and plot development (as well a plot line beautiful in it's simplicity), fights that succeed in raising one's heartbeat, and buckets of machismo. While, in terms of plot, the series are world's apart, it's hard to imagine that someone could enjoy one but not the other

This is kind of a stretch, but it's worth a try.
- Both are shounen.
- Both have a great sense of "other shit is going on around the world, and the main characters aren't the center of the world"
- Both are absurdly long One piece: 1000+ and Hajime no Ippo: 1200+ at the time of writing this.
- Very iconic characters.
