This rec may seem far-fetched, but I love these two series for many similar thematic reasons. Umineko's themes dealing in child abuse, especially from the issues of a mother upon a child, have strong parallels to Denji's relationship with Makima. The struggle of breaking a cycle of trauma and abuse through the lens of compassion is a constant theme. The realities of death and grief and how to move on in the aftermath play a huge part in both.
