Although the setting and premise are quite different there, the kind of journey and mood behind it is quite similar.Both main characters are masters of fighting, have their "immortal" status and proved it in one way or another and started their path with woman companion.They also meet twisted and powerful people who have similar goals, but for different purposes.Both works are not afraid to portray severe consequences of violence in physical condition,where there is necessity to do it
Both stories follow an almost immortal character on a long journey set in Japan's past. They also feature Ainu (indigenous Japanese people) in a positive light and reference parts of their culture such as their clothing, facial tattoos and makiri daggers

Two amazing historical Seinen series about a character with scars who is "Immortal" the only difference being the time period and the fact that one is actually immortal and one isn't.
