Both have a girl who's a little stupid when it comes to guys and such, and a guy who all the girls want but he never dates. (Trust issues). Overall both are really great and funny stories about love.

Both have an unpopular girl who is looking for love in High School. And they meet a popular boy who isn't interested in love. Because of some similar event they end up hanging out without eachother where love develops between them.
In both series, there is romance presented where the main female protagonist seems to be a plain girl with a normal personality. They meet a popular male protagonist in the series and they form a relationship. Although it gets off to a rocky start, it develops and the duo embarks on many obstacles that brings them closer together.
Both series takes place at a high school life setting and has a lighthearted theme. Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu does have some more mature themes but the idea of romance is present in both series.
Both series also involves misunderstandings between the main two protagonists.
The heroines are very similar, yet different too. In the beginning, Haruna is looking for a boyfriend, whereas Tsubaki made no attempt at all. Besides that, they are both naive and do not know much about relationships, making them "stand out".
Both stories start with the heroine and the guy having difficulties with each other, but start to like each other, although cliché sense of the story, the authors begin it in unique ways.
The guys (I don't know what to call them) both have trouble trusting women and haven't had many or any serious relationships before. Also, both act cool at times, but actually care.
