Both have LGBT themes and focus on self discovery of gender and sexuality among the main characters.
Hourou Musuko is a coming of age story of "a boy who wanted to be a girl and a girl who wanted to be a boy" it is similar in a way to Shimanami Tasogare because it "plumbs the complicated depths of gender identity, sexuality, healing, and community through a cast with different backgrounds and concerns."
would love for other people to read these gems too.
