Deadman Wonderland

Deadman Wonderland and World Embryo actually share very little in terms of plot except for in both cases the leading female character has a rather rough past. The main similarity is found in their tone, they both are what I would classify as "Dark Shounen" meaning they both maintain many of the qualities that make them shounen but have a much darker tone than manga like Naruto or the like. Another similarity is that in both manga you have a male MC who starts off weak but is extremely determined to rise up to the occasion.

Both series has a similar feeling where the main male protagonist's life is changed forever after a certain event and meeting a strange girl. She becomes his ally and they share a strange relationship with each other.
Both series has action but presented in a darker way.
Both series also has violence, gore, and mysterious background involving the main female character. The main male protagonist in both series also has similar personalities and hopes to protect what they believe in.
Similar tone, with detailed, destructive battles. World Embryo does not have the level of gore that Deadman Wonderland has but it certainly reminds me of DW.
