While both series follows a different premise, there's the psychological aspect of the story that feels similar. The main male protagonist are very crafty with their clever mind throughout both series. In addition, every chapter presents new twists as we find out how much the story develops. In essence, there is mystery and also a bit of thriller feeling as the main protagonist takes risks. Comedy is mostly absent in Kurosagi although present in Gamble Fish. The latter is also known for having fan service that is portrayed in an unorthodox way.
