Both are beautiful coming-of-age stories that deal with two young males and their trials and issues in life. Both also deal with the same mature themes such as depression, sexual corruption, and loss of innocence. They also contain cynical and sometimes surreal humor along with a story that gradually becomes more dark and emotional as it progresses.
The have very similar feelings. The art style is very unique in both manga especially since OMK is a doujin. They have a lot of drama and dark themes and are both psychological manga about students in middle school (though Oyasumi Punpun has some time skips).
Both of these particular series are coming of age stories. Both of the main characters are young males faced with issues/challenges in life. Also cover similar mature themes such as loss of innocence, loneliness and depression. If these types of themes/stories interest you. I highly recommend you give both a read. :)

Both Mangas are about growing up, adolescence and the problems, that those people deal with. The protagonists of the two Mangas are very similar. There is also a lot of darker and sexual themes involved in both stories.

These are both very similar, because they are both great psychological and coming of age stories about the male main character and his issues in life. Both deal with depression, suicidal thoughts, being alone etc.
both explore a journey of a boy to discover himself despite them having some sort of complex within themselves and find a relatively happy ending
