In a post-apocalyptic world, a practically immortal protagonist searches the land for their purpose in life. Both manga have quite unique take on things.
More similar than the covers let on. Both take place in a post apocalyptical world, the main character is effectively immortal and the main themes both have to deal with trying to find a purpose in life. Both also have beautiful artstyles that make the most of monochrome.

They may look completely different but both are about immortals and a complete deconstruction of there character through what is effectively psychological torture
As other recommendations have mentioned, both mangas deal with near immortal characters in similar post-apocalyptic settings trying to find a purpose in their existence. What I especially like about these mangas is that, over time, the protagonists’ personalities and their relationships change accordingly, as they mature and grow and learn through their exposure to the world and its characters.
In short, the character development in both mangas is unlike any other and the secondary characters play such an important part in it that they might as well be protagonists themselves.

Both are tragic stories about a dystopian world. Both revolve around a character who goes through a certain development. Tho the development is slightly different, still the situation posed and characters are quite similar. Especially, both the manga give off the same vibe.
Both take place in a post apocalyptic world with odd rules. Both have an immortal characters and explore problems of being unable to die. Both have strong relation to religion. Also Fire Punch and espetially Houseki no Kuni have a unique art style, which can't be found anythere else(other from other Ichikawa and Fujimoto works). The stories are also unique in both mangas, you can't find something like them. Also the main characters go through huge development in both mangas. Finaly, two of them are very philosophical and can be interpreted in many ways.
Two stories both take place in post-apocalyptic Earth with an ice age setting, and the main cast is near immortal creatures, also usually features amputation scenes. They’re very heavily character-driven as the plot fills with a plethora of drama, tragedy, agony. All aim to explore the theme of raison d’etre aka. the purpose to live on.
