The One

Male leads are very similar, with their backgrounds, traumas and all. The One and Mars both have more realistic approach to relationships unlike other shoujo series out there. While leads in the Mars are high-schoolers, the ones in The One are older. Especially the male lead of The One has a more mature attitude towards his past and present. They both give the same heart wrenching feeling most of the time except The One is hilarious as well.
Both stories' males leads have similar traumas. I won't get into specifics (since that would give a lot away!), but while reading "The One" and about Eros, I couldn't help but be reminded of Rei from "Mars".

Both have really deep backgrounds for the characters, have one prominent romance couple that is mature, and have similar beautiful/mature art. Both the male leads in both these stories have bad or violent pasts, but are changed and become protective over the girl lead.
