Most of what reminds me of the other is how the main character's love interest gets along with the family. ...Or maybe the main character's family in general. Both families have their own way of doing things which freaks out the love interest.
Within the romantic plot, both are slow, sweet, and not only circled around the main couple but also pulls in elements of other love stories, school life, and relationships with friends.
Ani Tomo is more on the 'innocent high school first love' side of things whereas Horimiya focuses on the more realistic(I think) 'friends before lovers' side/type of a relationship. In that
