Both girls steal in the name of god. The roles are a little mixed-up but they are all classmates.
The best friend in St. Tail is a nun that helps her, and in KKJ she is the detective. The boy in St. Tail is the detective while in KKJ he is the competition.^^

both are phantom thief shojo themed stories with elements of romance to it as well as nice art and character designs.

Is it a coincidence that Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne began serialization almost as soon as Saint Tail ended? The latter series began the rarely seen "magical girl thief" subgenre, and the former picks up on it—the main character in both even utilize a Christian theme in their magical girl alter egos as they steal in the name of God, and her classmate works with the police to catch her. Jeanne takes a much more ambitiously dramatic and (slightly) less comedic approach to the premise, however.
