Ao Haru Ride and Kimi ni Todoke crafts a story with colorful characters in a school life setting. There's distinctive focus on characters and their relationships with one another for both series. The emphasis on their backgrounds also becomes evident as we find out more about the characters. Relationships also evokes emotions that has detail in realism as well. At the same time, they are able to make room for comedy to lighten up the drama. If you're looking for a balanced and lighthearted rom-com, then these two series should be classics that should be considered.
