Both feature a very similar drawing style, have basically the same mysterious-beautiful-wish-granting-main character, the chapters are mostly One-Shots - even though both decided to add story-elements for their charcters later in the series - and there are some storys both Manga did. Also both deal with the idea of wishes and vengeance of teens, even though Jigoku Shoujo focuses more on consequences of actions whereas Shokora looks more at intentions.
Both stories are horror themed shoujo stories that focus on granting wishes with the main goal is to make the target of the wish granter, to suffer as horribly as possible.
