They're both quite similar! Both manga take place in historical Japan and have male MCs with nekomata partners. Each show their daily lives and how the duos perform their work and help others (with the help of supernatural friends/the ability to understand or see them).
They both have comedic elements, cute scenes, and fun supporting characters. The tone of each is a bit mystical while covering a range of stories, some happy and some sad. Nekomata is a bit more cute and wistful while Nekoe Juubee Otogisoushi goes more into artistry and the supporting cast's life in the Edo period, but they're both great reads!
