In both series, a prominent theme that is part of the premise is comic/manga making. The main protagonists attempts to craft manga although their limited skills puts them under stress at first. However, their skills does evolve and we see more of their potentials. Both series has a colorful cast of characters as well as focus on relationships. Hope takes on a more dramatic approach with realism while Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun mostly adapts comedy with its content. There is also romance although portrayed differently between these two series.
