Both Kids on the Slope and Blue Flag center around a trio (and a fourth character which could be argued to be more of a main character) that follow friendship and eventually love. One noticeable difference I noticed was the characters. Touma from Blue Flag and Sentaro from Kids on the Slope have a very similar personality which can be described as a jock and more athletic type of person. Although there are some differences as well, both of these mangas give off a very similar vibe and are both sad in some aspect. (I cried while reading both of them.)
When reading the manga blue flag I was constantly reminded of kids on the slope. Kids on the slope and Blue Flag have a very similar friendship and the characters act very similar. In my opinion is both are a 10/10 and it's hard to read one of these books without thinking of the other. There are some issues that are explored in both manga having to do with society and how it perceives people. Even though there are some differences there are more similarities to be seen. Kids on the slope has homoerotic undertones whereas Blue Flag fully depicts characters who are LGBT.
