Fate connects two main characters unexpectedly in both series. Bonnouji and Horimiya may seem like your average slice of life series but has some creative ways around it when it comes to storytelling. The main male protagonist has similar personalities as well as being the typical Average Joe. His encounter with the main female protagonist highlights many experiences in both series. And as given comedy goes, both series retains a lighthearted tone with clever timing with its humorous moments. Recommended for fans of slice of life with realism.
Both are light-hearted, laid back romantic comedies. The characters are all extremely likeable and you'll most likely enjoy their growth.
The series do have some serious arcs/chapters but they never feel too serious nor heavy.
I recommend these manga to anyone looking for a laid-back, drama-free and overall very enjoyable read.
Light-hearted romance manga with progression. That sums up Bonnouji and Horimiya perfectly as they both explore the romance aspect beyond the love confession without delve too much into dramatic overtones. While Bonnouji focuses only on a young adult couple, Horimiya on the other hand, revolves around highschoolers. It also features the love stories of its side characters. Despite that, the two follow all phases of the relationship in the same fashion; it starts from meeting, friendship, growing feelings for each other, and finally living their life as a couple.
They are both sweet, simple love stories. Horimiya takes place during high school, whereas Bonnouji focuses on young adults. The artwork for both is nice and clean and the dialogue is witty and funny.
