The setting takes place in a fictional world where there is war and politics. Maoyu and Gunk no Baltzar doesn't just rely on standard battle mechanics but also explores the social aspects of its people, world, and mechanics. Both series' main protagonist also has a strong will and often takes risks in their roles. Both series is also known to often exploit its war themes to further its storytelling. Maoyu adapts more fantasy themes though while Gunka no Baltzar relies on its military mechanics.
