Both are excellent, off-beat romances with a bit of a science fiction twist. In particular, both manga feature crazy events transpire to connect the male lead with the girl that he has been pining for. In Ashita Dorobou, the science fiction elements help bring together a man with the ex-girlfriend that he still loves; in Uwagaki, the science fiction elements give a rejected boy the opportunity to get to know (and date) the object of his affection.
