Both are romantic comedies with tons of tomboys and brute girls. Both begin with a pair of characters forced to date but other girls appear in the middle of the relationship. There are a girl who first hate him and later turned into love, a lost fiancee, a shy girl... Ranma have more variety, there are more male characters and not all the girls have a crush with the same boy neither all the boys with the same girl like in Nisekoi. Ranma also adds martial arts.
