A left-field recommendation for Tokyo Ghoul would be Kisei Juui Suzune; which makes an interesting companion piece for the former as an over-sexualized world when compared to the former's near-asexual/platonic world of relationships. In Tokyo Ghoul there are ghouls who hungrily prey on humans; in Kisei Juui Suzune there are parasitic humans who lustfully prey on humans. Lead characters Kaneki Ken (Tokyo Ghoul) and Suzune Arizono (Kisei Juui Suzune) are like two peas in a pod futilely trying to escape/suppress organizations and social circles that selfishly and desperately try to define their existence.
