Despite the difference in drawing style and adult content (i.e. sexual material of Berserk) these two mangas have a distinct similarity when it comes to atmosphere. They both sport a definite anti-hero, gore, beautiful characters and a great story. I could honestly not choose one over the other.

They're fantasy manga set in historical times, will lots of sword fighting and intriguing plots. They feature incredible art and characters you'll fall in love with.

Both these seinen series main characters really remind me of each other. Manji and Guts are both inhumanly strong. The main difference between the two is that Manji's goal is a little bit more noble than guts', Manji wishes to become mortal again and has to kill 1000 criminals to do so, while Guts just wishes to take revenge on Gods Hand and Griffith.

Think of a more dialogue heavy Berserk where you would focus on the characters that actually matter, with more banter and page time for the relationship of Guts and Casca, as well as flashed out side characters that feel real, and a humor that actually works and does not feel out of place. The plot progresses on a better pacing and you don't have overly cartoonish or wasted side characters like the Pirates or Wyld, whereas in B.O.T.I. when there's such over the top characters, they are writen in a fashion to where you believe such asshole with no redeeming qualities could exist.

- Both have the protagonist going to extremes for the sake for their loved one - Character development. Berserk focuses the most on the development of the protagonist. Mugen no Juunin/ Blade of the Immortal sees the development of pretty much all the characters except the very minor characters. - Both have brilliant artwork, although Mugen no Juunin/ Blade of the Immortal has a more simplistic style compared to Berserk - Both have gore. Berserk has more body organs flying around, Mugen no Juunin has more severed appendages
