While there are no apostles and monsters in Les Misérables, these two gritty manga still share multiple similarities.
The main character has suffered lots due to his background in the past. He is stronger than the above average man, and has been a prisoner but was able to escape. There is a strong emphasis on the drama and tragedy. Along the way to redemption, they encounter people who can save them from losing themselves totally, and they open up again.
