I wouldn't be surprised if Dororo was an inspiration for Berserk. Both feature a mutilated but incredibly skilled hero on a quest for revenge against demons, accompanied by a cocky sidekick. Berserk is far more disturbing, but Dororo is quite dark and gruesome in its own right.
Both stories include the main protagonist slaying demons on a quest for revenge. While also missing body parts, and being hunted by evil spirits.

Ever since his cursed birth, the protagonist has struggled to survive on his own in a historical(-esque) setting with no family or home. Marked as a sacrifice for otherworldly demons and apparitions, he fights using his sword skills continuously with no rest. He eventually gets some companions along the way who help him retain his humanity.
