You might think that I'm only recommending the two because they're both filled with gore and nudity, and they both take place in crapsack worlds. However, there's more to these two stories than death and prevalence of evil. The two stories deal with the concept of humanity becoming powerless with similar devices such as humans "ascending" to demons and struggling against a higher power(s). They both also include a similar twist in the middle, though it's better executed and more necessary in Berserk.
