Devilman

Well I'll refrain myself from spoiling the two (Spoilers for decades old manga? Surely everyone already knows the spoilers)
Miura himself claims he's a big fan of Go Nagai and had influences from his manga.
As for the manga:
Both have deep roots in mythology and share a great deal of themes. Among them: friendship, corruption, and betrayal.
If you only read the first Devilman series you might see the similarities with Berserk and also notice the major turning point of both series are very much alike.
The more of Devilman you read the more and more similarities you'll notice.
The characters:
Akira/Amon and Guts: Both (at some point or another)

The world is infested with demons and the buffed, manly protagonist has to fight them in attempt to save humans. This protagonist also has a blonde bishounen friend that helps him in fights but it also turns out this bishounen migh have his own agenda that the protagonist would disagree with. Both have well drawn art and don't shy away from violence, gore, nudity and sex.
Both deal with the issues of friendship, betrayal, tragedy and more importantly, humanity and violence. Miura is a self-proclaimed Go Nagai fan and admits to being influenced by his work.
As far as the characters are concerned, there's a passionate and violent main character, Akira/Amon and Guts. These main characters have a tragic backstory. There's a game changer regarding the central friendship of Griffith/Guts and Akira/Ryo.
There are obvious homoerotic undertones, mainly concentrated on one character. One can argue that Miura has been influenced specifically by Ryo's character, One Summer Day, and the main plot twist of Devilman in creating the Eclipse.
Lastly you can spot mythological and

Both are action manga filled with violence and gore. They explore similar themes, and have as a protagonist an anti-hero character, who, in order to defeat antagonistic demonic creatures, has to strip himself of his humanity. Also, the main villains in both manga have biblical satanic attributes.

If you like stories about anti-heroes who battle demons while almost becoming one these series are for you!!!!
-Akira and Guts start off very diferent but become violent, strong and determined characters who stop at nothing to protect the ones they love.
-They both have tons of gore, violence and nudity and awesome demon designs.
-The main characters lives are full of tragedy.
-They are both classics in their own right and even thought none have a proper anime adaptations. (Miura inspired himself on some of Go Nagai's manga to write Berserk)

Berserk had been based on many concepts from Devilman. The monsters designs on their concepts and looks are very similar. Although the main character of Devilman is a kin of the one he is killing, their character stories (Discluding their backstories) are pretty similar. Sometime in both manga's, they get betrayed by a certain someone. If you like Berserk's gore and gritty characters, you will love the master piece called Devilman.
Devilman is one of the inspirations of Kentaro Miura's Berserk.
You will see MANY similarities, trust me.

Berserk was based on devilman in so many levels, the depictions of demons look like comming from hell itself, the antagonist is a femboy sexy son of a bitch and share the same duality between protagonist and antagonist, akira and ryo with guts and griffith, and both share the same brutal and dark setting
Miura has stated before that one of his inspirations for Berserk was Go Nagai's work, more likely ''Devilman''.
I think it's a worth it experience to read Devilman for its interesting plot, fantastical plot twist and an ending you didnt expect at all with homoerotic tones. And of course it's even more awesome to see how Miura has been inspired by Devilman's character designs e.t.c.
Plus it came out in 1973, so it has its quirks.
Devilman is a fairly short read, it will take at least an hour but it has inspired so much influencial media such as ,as mentioned, Berserk and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
It's almost impossible to find any author that inspired Kentaro Miura (and with him generations of authors that chose to explore and represent the most obscure and cruel parts of human emotions) more than Go Nagai and his masterpiece, Devilman. It will be simple for any Berserk fan to immediately recognize the first systematic use of all those beautiful narrative and visual tropes that makes these kind of stories so interesting: the dark and oppressive atmosphere and aesthetic, the entire story centered around the complex relationship between two main characters, which are presented as similar opposites starting from the chara design (protagonist with a darker
