Marmalade Boy and Kodomo no Omocha were both being published in Japan around the same time and being serialized in the same magazine (Ribon). They're both shojo manga though the plots are a little different. Even if they have a different plot, you should still give both of these manga a try.

They are both in the same genre.They both have similar plots.Kodomo no Omocha is your love problems and uncertainly when you a kid.Marmalade boy plot is similar because of uncertainties and love problems.They both have happy endings too despite of all the difficulties.
Marmalade boy reminded me of a high school version of Kodocha kind of. Lots of family drama, a guy who teases the main girl (who is very energetic and gets flustered a lot)... The main couples have to overcome a lot of obstacles in order to be with each other, including love triangles.
Although the characters in Kodocha (Kodomo no Omocha) are younger than the ones in Marmalade Boy, both are older, sweet shojo series that are very easy to read and have dramatic plot twists with romance. Both have a classic shojo manga style. If you're looking for an old-fashioned, sweet, but also realistic shojo series to get hooked on, both are fairly similar in their structure, though the story lines are completely different.
