The main characters in both of these series have an unruly/plain appearance until a cross-dresser (transvestite in Mairunovich) gives them a makeover. A handsome guy (in Kuragehime, a handsome guy who just likes to dress up as a woman sometimes) assumes a "guardian" role over the MC as she fumbles through love with other people, although it's clear that the MC is meant to be with him in the end.
