Psychologically messed up main characters who have sex for no reason than to give oneself validity and to feel as if they are alive, while denying the deeper feelings they may harbor for the ones they use.

Both are about teenagers discovering sexuality, and a plot about a girl who is having a sexual relationship with a depressed guy just because they can't be with the person they actually like.

Scum's wish is like an extended softcore version of Girl by the Sea. A larger cast, more relationships, more broken hearts in people who didn't know they had a heart to begin with. Thanks to Asano sensei's magic, Girl by the Sea says in two volumes what Scum's wish have tried to accomplish in five and counting, but considering how people in a hundred years will debate over why Asano Inio never got the Nobel Prize in literature, Scum's Wish is just as recommended.

So you think Kuzu no Honkai was great? How about you man up and read real shit like this one?

The story both involves two students who were in a casual sex relationship, with no romantic love attached. But of course, it's not that simple and platonic. Their relationship revolves around their own problmes in life, and they find sexual intercouse as their way to cope. It was mentally exhausting at times, but still worth to read!
