Both manga/manhwa...graphic novels are about a couple who are the smartest in their grade. They get to know one another's flaws/darkness, lessen the distance between themselves and become a beautiful pair. In cheese in the trap they seem to view each other in a negative way and never got to know one another till a year after, but in karekano, the characters start off as friends and grow on one another. Both are great reads and highly recommended.

Both heroines are smart, independent, and hardworking. The male lead characters in both give off a similar vibe - kind, popular, and intelligent. Arima (Kare Kano) and Jung (Cheese in the Trap) hides something that will slowly be revealed later in the story.
Both are about hardworking protagonists who are self-reliant and independent. Set in a school setting, they involve stories about "normal" school problems. While CITT is more of a psychological drama, Kare Kano deals primarily with coming-of-age. The male leads are kind of similar, both having a sociopathic tendencies.
The leads are intelligent, ambitious and competitive in both series.
The protagonists, Yukino and Seol are both very smart and independent. They are not the typical damsels in distress of shoujo or romance comics.
The male leads, Arima and Jung, are kind with a bit of mystery surrounding their personalities and the past. Both of them are kind of mentally unstable.
The relationship dynamics are similar. The pair enjoys teasing each other, makes fun of the other, etc. It's very wholesome.
Even the hairstyles and haircolors of our leads are similar xD
Cheese in the Trap is probably a bit more mature than Kare Kano considering the former
