The stories take place in a historical setting,the artworks are pretty good.
The main characters are strong, independent and really intelligent! (they're both strategist and their plan are like OOOOHH DAMN!)
There's also a political plot and war going on even though they may differ a bit.

In war stricken countries, our protagonists find hope and salvation even as tragedy continues to hound their every step. Both leads are strategists and throughout their combats, each demonstrates intelligence beyond their years which would win them several battles and saving numerous lives in the process. But while they may seem invincible, they too are human. They may appear knowledgeable but they often display naivete towards the ways of the world. Both Shoukoku no Altair and Song of the Long March are beautifully drawn, making the reading experience even more worthwhile. For those who came here for its war
