Both provide insights into the state of "human identity" in a hyper-technological era.
I believe... Not coincidentally, both series begin with graphics reminiscent of pseudo-XML, an idiomatic element of technology that during those years (late 90s - 2000s) was slowly permeating everyone's lives.
