The MCs both have fast growth rates when compared to everybody else, but for different reasons. In 'Return to Player' it's because he regressed, and in 'The Player Who Can't...' it's because he gained an opportunity.
Their stories are set around monster hunting, in which systems are a prominent feature, providing a way for the player to grow.
