Both from the same author, both short mangas.
Deep and meta, both include twists.
Blurs the idea of real and imagination.
Deals with death.
Same creator.

In both of these oneshots the author uses fiction and reality to portray the stories and sometimes blurs the line between, both of these stories are about coping, death and moving on.
Written by the same author, they are very ‘real’ series with deeper themes and interesting plots with plot twists. Both are quite meta as well.

both are some of Fujimoto's best one-shots and in both we follow someone who uses art to deal with grief, mixing comedy with drama giving us a bittersweet nostalgic flavor

Short narratives made by Fujimoto Tatsuki, with deep character writing and both stories about a creator's lives. One being about a mangaka and another being a filmmaker. Having incredible background art with amazing storytelling.
Fujimoto's other one shot, they're both quick and not so easy reads. Like Sayonara Eri, Look Back goes over the ideas of friendship and regret. Has the drama panels as well and the sad moments that make you regret your own life choices. Highly recommend if you enjoy being sad, Sayonara Eri or the art style of Fujimoto Tatsuki <3
Not only are these one-shots by the same author, but they both explore concepts such as loss, regret, and the struggles that come with being a creative genius. Personally, I preferred the way Sayonara Eri handled these themes, but if you're a fan of Tatsuki Fujimoto - or thought-provoking slice-of-life in general - it's well worth reading both.
Both one shots are from Tatsuki Fujimoto. His style, character design, plot development are felt in all his works. Both stories tell us about an authors. In Sayonara Eri it's movie director, in Look Back stoty focuses on manga creators. Also main characters found someone who helps them do their job and they do it together. Finaly, both stories last for years and we can see the development of characters as an authors.
