Main character has to learn to understand and deal with a fate that he didn't intentionally ask for. Both involve demons/ghosts that interact with the main character and he also has to keep his abilities secret from everyone, including those most close to him. Both authors have a very similar illustration and writing style, but is kept individual by key features within the characterizations. (i.e. you always feel like there is WAY more going on within the story than the author is willing to tell you. There is a constant feel of foreshadowing.)
Both have twins who are practically the polar opposite of each other. The main characters are both the lesser twins who are compared to their prodigal other half. Both main characters started out in the wrong path but turned for the better good. Both had their parents (or foster parents) sacrificed for their sake (more or less) and are connected to some godly being who grants them their special power. The plot in both stories focuses on the hardship of both characters controlling their power and learning how to trust others more.
Similar basic plot: the main character experiences a death of a family member at the beginning, each receives a power from a "devil," and plans to use that power destroy the "devil." Both have an energetic style, and even though they're shounens, they probably appeal equally to both guy and gal readers.
